I don't remember the cowboy's name, but no matter...the bareback bronc is Heavy Shot, aka Grit, who gave me a very nice finish in the year-end FS for 2012 :-) I swear he recognized me, he gave me the best shots of any bronc there! Go Heavy Shot!!!

pp: shot RAW, straighten, crop, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, minor cloning, resize, sharpen, save for web

Post-challenge: woohoo! A top 10 finish, new homerow image and PH bling - so happy!! I love Heavy Shot!

In bronc riding, you WANT to draw a horse who will give you a hell-for-leather ride; 50% of the total score is the bronc's performance, and Heavy Shot doesn't disappoint. He's not a big horse, but his small size means he's fast and twisty and capable of huge explosive bucks.

Perfect camera angle and timing for this shot. You also put right down on the ground where the rodeo clown would be. Have the view from his perspective. Can't ask for more!

Great moment - love that the spectators give the context without in the least distracting from the bronc and rider. Congratulations on the top ten.

hey I'm not a fan of sports photos but I know perfection when I see it.

I'm hanging this in my fantasy art gallery.

Pretty awesome AOV and moment caught. Pity it's OE and very centrally composed which make the difference between a 6 and an 8.

really nice action shot, a tighter crop with some of the area to the left removed would work better for me, great job in getting focus on this,
