 Decided to go to Mono Lake for some night shots the other weekend. Living in Sacramento, or almost anywhere in the Central Valley, there is too much light pollution to see the Milky Way. Scouting the Tufa in the afternoon I saw this abandoned shack off Highway 395. I stopped to reconnoiter and was almost immediately accosted by CHP who threatened to ticket me and tow my vehicle if I did not move post haste. I saw what I needed to see and also found a place to pull off the highway on the other side of the divided road where I would not be seen. Coming back after midnight (with no moon) for the position of the Milky Way I found that I had to skirt a large drainage canal and also wriggle through a fence in the near pitch dark to get to the structure. Meanwhile trucks would barrel down the highway and coyotes were calling in the background. I took a few images and then climbed back out.

I have read 'The Shed' so many time and found inspiration every time. Every time! This to me, is my shed, this is where I want to be when I met my Maker, looking up into the sky, admiring The Milky Way.
