 I had another shot entered up until about 7 hours before roll-over. I liked the original of that shot, but the grain version wasn't that awesome. Looking at the photos I have taken over the past week, and this one jumped out as something that has a timeless feel. To me, that is what works well with grain.

So I popped the image into Color Efex Pro, and added the grain (as well as the border, soft light, etc). I reduced the grain on the main corn to bring out the details there, but still allowing heavy grain elsewhere. The end result is something I really like.
