I always come back to this one. One of my top 5 fav photos here at DPC. It has such a lovely light and detail. It is so representative of fall and it reminds me of the aspens in my part of the world. It is one I would like to hang on my wall sometime. :)

The colors and scenery is fantastic. The hues are warm and golden. I am caught holding my breath for this really takes on the aspects of a painting found hanging on the wall.

This was one of three 10s I gave in this challenge (that's 3 more than I usually give - the standards were VERY high here). I absolutely love the mood and the light in this picture. It captures autumn just perfectly for me and has the added bonus of looking a bit like a Weston image (with colour). Well done - I believe this deserved a ribbon.

The shadows on the bottom and the dark clouds on the top help frame the trees beautifully. It's hard to find such a good shot in natural light like this! Well done! 9

Surreal. Great drama as a result of the lighting. Am I biased because the birch is one of my favorite trees? Good job! The only thing I would like to see a bit different is the shadow in the foreground... but I realize it is difficult to control nature. 9

I must have shot hundreds of fall shots like this, but not many of them were of much worth. This one however, is really nice and effective. You chose a good time of day, and your composition and colors/contrasts work very well.

this is gorgeous! we're still waiting for our leaves to turn, and until then, this is what i'm looking at! great composition and use of lighting. you really captured the moment. the detail is tremendous. one of my top picks for the challenge. good luck!

Yes, that is the real golden Autumn. Just the heavy shadow in the lower part of the image gives strong contrast, without which I think the picture would've been more optymistic. But... it doesn't have to be optymistic (especially with the dark cloud above), does it?

Looks like the cover of a jigsaw puzzle, and can see this as one.

So nice. love the colours. REALLY love the texture you get from the low sunlight. the shadows at the bottom in front of the focal tree bug me a little, but that's a nit-pick. I love it. looks like fall near my house. well done.

Beautiful... the colors on the leaves are great, and the texture and detail on the tree trunks bring some real depth. Nice and sharp all the way out to the horizon, and the backlighting really works.

Great Autumn colors and great time to have taken the shot. When I see the sun breaking out of the clouds like this I always look for something to shoot quickly as it never lasts for long.

I always end up missing it.

It's a nice shot, crisp and excellent colors, great sky, too, but not very in-your-face surprising...for a fall picture, it doesn't have that oomph... but I like it nonetheless, particular the clarity of the foreground tree and the lighting. Thanks!

This is beautiful but I would have prefered a different time of day to avoid the harsh shadows against such delicate foliage coloring. Yet, the composition has great strenght and beauty but the viewer feels he wants to see more of the dark backland. Despite all this the coloration invites the eyes back again. Bumping up.

Some beautiful light, and I like the neatimaged clouds but the composition here is a bit chaotic to me. I'm not really sure what the pof is here. The trees and hills look way oversharpened... to the point of actually losing detail. 6

Wow, is it that time of year already somewhere?? I'm not ready. Good color and the sunlight hitting the white trunks works well. Seem like you could have cropped out that one burned out area in the clouds on the left. Great shot.

wow this is deffinitely a touching image !
gr8 use of colour and focus... composition is exquisite as well however its a shame to have the amount of shaddowing in the foreground as is present... it would IMHO have a gr8r effect if it was in its original tones of colour however that is not something that you could possibly control... i highly commend you on such a wonderful photo and look forward to seeing more of your work :)

WOW!!!! I can't wait to see who did this one and where it was taken... Absolutely goes on my favorites list. I have nothing to critique as I would not change anything. Great dramatic lighting, I love the surreal feel of the image, and what really captures my attention is the way you've isolated the detailed silhouettes of the central trees from the thicher trees to the right.

Lovely shot. Hmmm I think I know who this entry is from..but I won't be so presumptuous to state it. One of my favourites though.

Now this is a classic example of how to capture scenery. You've taken a mundane landscape, and transformed it. Absolutely gorgeous. The lighting is haunting, and leads you into the trees. Perhaps a little *too* blown out in the clouds on the left. However, it's like looking at a fine painting
