 This is a re-shoot of what was probably going to be my free study entry. When this challenge came up, I knew if I had the right weather, this was my best shot at a spectacular entry. Where the free study I have other options available.

In this re-shoot, I did a few things differently.
1. I used a tripod and mirror lockup
2. I used ISO 100 instead of 200 (when creating an HDR, it makes a noticeable difference)
3. I got up earlier (this game me a nicer gradient in the sky colors)
4. I paid more attention to branches that could get in the way (to make less cloning work in post)

In the end, I'm happier with the re-do, even though I was blown away by the original. It is amazing that this can happen :)

The end composition is a 5 exposure HDR from -2 to +2. A little spot editing to get rid of an errant branch, and a bit of a color boost.

I would easily give this photo an 8, maybe a 9. And with my recent more critical votes (at least I feel like I've been more critical), that gives me high hopes for this.

The trees are so light and airy that I almost wish you had not included the bright foreground leaves... It's still very beautiful! 8

I think it's a tad bright, especially the sky and water, but otherwise a very good shot. 8

I really like the wee bit of color left on the edge of the photo, while the trees beyond have already lost all their leaves. Very nice composition!
