I wish I could write like vawendy...Sigh.
Had totally different idea for the Negative Space challenge. Was shooting for Natural Body of Water, focusing on the further end of the lake, when looked down and saw this stillness. Dropped the leaf on it and did couple of shots. Almost no editing, just made a leaf little redder ( Cory, I tried to make it more saturated and did not like it), may be some crop. That's it.
Feels strange to get a ribbon for such a little effort! I am not complaining though!!! That's my first, as tome noticed! :-)
Thank you all for your generous voting and great comments! I'm happy...

Oh I am soo bad, I meant to Congratulate you on this beautiful shot and your Ribbon!!!!! You left a lovely comment on one of my pictures today, and I went OMG I never said anything on your Ribbon nor shot... Forgive me, I try to ALWAYS congratulate the winners and tell them my opinion.. For neg space THIS NAILED IT! It is beautiful, relaxing, simple yet I have looked and studied it probably 5 times since the challenge... just 'cause it's so Zen (is the word for it makes me feel ahhh and relaxing!) This should be bought and paid $$$$ for and hung in a Dentist's office!!!

Any how my bad for not doing this sooner!!!

It often works out that way, that the "so little effort" images score the best for us. Why? Because they're PERFECT, what else do they need? Congrats!

It's my monitor at work. This is perfectly smooth on my ipad.

Easily my highest vote in this challenge. Serene, peaceful, calm - you have conveyed a joyous solitude, rather than a lonely one.

the shape of an oak leaf does allow for some interest in the negative space, although you've made it so small that it lessens the impact.

The lack of any distortion in the water is what makes this shot special. Looks almost like it's sitting on a table until you notice it is slightly submerged. Very cool.

Very pretty. On my monitor, there's a lot of banding in the blue gradient area. It would be a shame if everyone saw it. This should score high if they don't see it.

No vote. I don't vote on challenges that I enter.

Nicely composed simplicity. The warm tones of the leaf work well against the cool gray blues.

Details: Use the surrounding space of your subject to create the wow of the photograph.

Yeah.. You did it. :)

I'd like more saturation on that red/brown, but it's great.
