Oh this is a Judi masterpiece! My apologies. JulietNN always has fascinating and rather dramatic models posed in harrowing ways...like you have here which is why I thought this one was hers. I am curious what this looks like in color. I picture his tattoos in color and her hair a light shade of golden red. Anyways...10 from me...;-)

A really emotive and beautiful image. I may be crazy but it reminds me of Grant Wood's American Gothic in some way, I think the eyes. Art is great.

I love the negative space to the viewer's right, but I think it probably cost you a few points here and there, due to the fact that most viewers cant appreciate most of the details in this amazing shot due to the 800 px limit. This is a wonderful portrait, and it would have been a 9 or 10 from me. The tonality is superb!

Really cool portrait. The B&W, the pose, the expressions...they all come together to tell a great unique story of these two.

Awarded for the October 2013 Free Study, for the reasons identified below.

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Great use of monochrome with perfect toning.
2. Really superb lighting (A single light?)
3. Great contrast handling; look how we can still see the sides of his legs despite the deep shadows.
4. Great 'poses' - I've seen a ton of model work and never come across this configuration before.
5. Great subjects demonstrating a great connection.

What a high impact portrait. Great stuff.

Nice couple portrait photo. I'm thinking this might be Judi, the female looks familiar from past Judi photos. In any case, my top pick for the FS.

Would help with skinning of mammoth, but female will not let go of Grog. Sorry.

Certainly different, but actually much better than some of these high polished shots in magazines.

I really like the lighting and processing on this. I'm usually not big on the portraits I see in FS but this is great.

I'm on my cellie....flat out on my back (too much Thanksgiving)- decided to cruise the thumbs of this free study.....this image popped out, caught my attention..... I'm not one for portraits all that often unless I take them...lolol.....but there is something in this that holds me....shows the viewer the way they relate....its as if she is looking in a mirror admiring him.....very intense....love the veins in her hand....so pulsing...alive... favorite portrait I've seen on d.p.c. ever. 10+
Every part of this works.....you could even crop it into a matrix.... each....part would work....very strong!
