I set out this evening hoping to be able to capture some end of day light, while also employing the golden ratio in a natal fashion. I believe I did both things, really well.

The end of day light is obvious. The sun had just come out with about 90 minutes of daylight left. After my son got done napping, we headed to this spot I found the weekend before. The sun was nearly set at this point, and with the angle of light this time of year, gives a wonderful spectrum in the sky.

The golden ratio is of course a bit harder. I had to try a number of times to get the perspective and frame just right. My phone was occupied, so I couldn't try the golden radio overlay in the app I downloaded. So I just eyeballed it. Afterwards I overlaid a golden ratio spiral. I found that the start of the spiral coincides with my focus point, which was on the dark rock in the lower right. The spiral the wraps around warps around that rock to encompass all of the other rocks on the right, then brings in the horizon and and the colors. Finally it finishes off by pulling in the left part of the scene.

I see past challenges of this type people voted on literally. If they didn't physically see the spiral, it generally didn't get a good score. Hopefully this image bucks a trend.
