The best outdoor holiday decorations in my area were provided by nature.

12/17/13 12:28pm MST. Estes Park. Iridescent Cloud. Canon 5Dmk3, Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 USM, f/5, 1/8000s, ISO 100, lens focal length 135mm. Looked like a spear, or arrowhead, to me.
These colorful clouds are called iridescent clouds, and the phenomenon is called cloud iridescence or irisation. The term comes from Iris, the Greek personification of the rainbow. It’s similar to the colors you might see when oil lies on the surface of a puddle of water. When you see a cloud like this, you know there are especially tiny ice crystals or water droplets in the air. Larger ice crystals produce solar or lunar halos, but tiny ice crystals or water droplets cause light to be diffracted – spread out – creating this rainbow-like effect in the clouds. (Possible chemtrails effect.)

Wow, nice catch. I've not seen one that big in person. I just imagine you noticing it and yelling "CAMERA!!!!!"

Oh wow! What IS this? Not an aurora, I don't think. Some sort of very unique cloud? So happy you caught this

Rather a shoehorn for the challenge, but an interesting shot nonetheless.

Is this some ice crystals in the sky? Beautiful, but meeting the challenge?
