I was walking the dog as it got dark on a snowy day. I would like some hints on how to make snow not so blue.

I admit I don't really like the grain, but the colors are hauntingly beautiful! Pretty shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club.
This is a great photo. It's a shame it didn't do better. There were some really beautiful pictures this week but some didn't beat this one out in my opinion.
Anyway, I think the main problem with the photo is the noise. You could use either Neatimage or Photoshop with Despeckle to smooth things out. I may be wrong but doesn't snow usually reflect a blueish hue from moonlight? I ask this because you comments mention something about not making it so blue. I think this is a very natural looking photo and I can't imagine changing it. That said there are a few ways you could try to do it. If you can adjust the white balance on the camera you could trick the camera to think that the subject it is shooting has a different light source. I don't want to go too deep into that but if you are shooting with moonlight and tell the camera that the light coming in is from a flourescent light it might change the colors a bit. That's just an example. The other way of changing the amount of blue would be to use Photoshop to adjust the curves. I'm not sure if you have Photoshop but if you do give it a shot. I took the liberty to make some adjustments to the photo. I made it less blue and removed the noise. If you'd like I can e-mail it to you. I hope this helps.

Wow Ellen! Impressive! I really liked this shot! Unique that you took it at night. Just a little blurry, but that adds to the appeal. I'd rather have seen the moon to the right of the tree, if you had been able to change your angle maybe..? Anyway..great work! And congrats on your new camera!

I keep trying to take shots like this, but my camera (and I) don't handle the situation very well.

Wow..... this makes me think there should be a poem written to accompany it! What a glorious scene you captured! The delicate glow of the moonlight lends such a sacred tone to this. How lovely!

This is very lovely. I really enjoy the colors and the brightness of the moon (full?) The composition is nice and there is a proper amount of contrast where you can still see detail in the trees. It looks a bit grainy like you had to push the exposure a bit. Neatimage can help reduce the noise while maintaining sharpness. Good job.

Like your color treatment. For composition try cropping some of the foreground.

Lovely tones here, beautiful serenity. Perhaps the snow is a bit blue, but not sure how you could have made it look whiter, perhaps a fill in flash would have made the foreground lighter? Gorgeous scene!

Would like to see this from a different angle so that the moon isn't directly above the trees - makes the left side of the shot a little heavy. Pretty good exposure given the conditions. Love the clouds and snow.
