My first entry in two yeas and probably a fairly brave one! :)

I recently picker up a Triggertrap flash trigger and have been experimenting with water balloons bursting.

This is simply a water filled balloon lit by two SB900 flash guns triggered by Triggertrap mobile application. The 'cigar' is a nerf gun dart rigged with a pin.

The firing of the Nerf gun triggers the flash and timing can be varied by moving the gun closer to the target.

Yes (again) - It took a look of effort to make this :)

I was one of your 10's this shot is just amazing.
I tried something very similar with some water ballons and a go-pro shooting
30 fps. I didn't get anything as cool as this.
Fantastic job!

@ LoVI - No, not Mylar... nothing special, just a standard balloon, filled with water and shot with a Nerf dart... :-)

I'm still utterly confused .....in a good way....is it mylar?

So.... I made custom shaped balloons for a festival once.....had rolls of mylar and cut the mylar material into all sorts of amorphic fun shapes, sealed the seams with a small iron, then filled then with helium....they lasted for weeks.

Love this shot..... you sound like a fun spirited soul!
I have an overwhelming desire to see a whole bunch of them bursting at once!

I will help. :-)

Reading what you did to take this photo, I wish I had rated it higher...and I wish it had placed higher. Great work.

That is a fabulous, high speed capture. I love that you can still see a portion of the balloon! I'm guessing that's a cigar which burst the balloon??? Wild image. Excellently lit and captured. My only nit is the softbox reflection
