Diane, apologies for thinking it was captive - our red foxes are very, very wary of humans. I think I would prefer this photo if it was taken from the same eye level as the fox, rather than looking down from above.

A lovely capture, great details with the whiskers, the steady look in the eyes, the darker fur around the ears, the white "bib" etc. Jointly my top scoring image.

This doesn't seem to be a wildlife photo in the generally accepted sense - the fox has no wariness at all, which does make me wonder if it is captive or has been hand-reared. However, the focus and dof are spot on - to have both ears, eyes and snout in focus, but the background soft is ideal. Light is a tad harsh, but overall a good portrait. In any event, I have tended to give higher marks to photos that show a bit of the animals natural habitat, or of its behaviour.
