Lucked out on this one. I was going to shoot at Colonial Williamsburg, in the armory, but my son is also in the beat your average challenge, and so we went to Jamestown on the weekend. The light was wonderful -- coming in from the doorway as this man was cleaning his gun.

I never ask the people to pose at CW or Jamestown (with the exception of the chicken guy. :), because then you just get the stare at the camera smiley faces. So I try to catch the action. They are both working places with people actually doing the jobs, and with very little light. Since my 7D sucks in low lighting, I can't turn up the ISO too high, so I try to time the shot with stops in the action. When they get to the end of a stroke or things like that.

The commenter is right -- the focus ended up more on the bottle than the guy, not sure why, because I did change the focus point. I did wish the bottle was someplace else, but again, I wanted natural shots, so I didn't ask for him to move it. I just tried taking the shots from the side and hoping not to distract him by shooting.

One of my favorite shots, the lighting on this is perfect! The lone man working .. Colors and everythign and I LOVE that old style gun! 10 for me! I say a ribbon winner for sure!
