I was originally going to do an intentional motion blur of one of the cats at the shelter - but then Riley and his stony stare happened and that was funny in itself.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Is it even possible to get a cat to hold still this long? Sure he looks pretty content in with his little blanket, but still. My cat constantly turns his head when I want his picture.

Wow, I can't believe you got a cat to hold still. This is lovely, like a photograph. I like the bit of noise - it gave me a feeling for how dark it was when the shot was taken.
