Disqualification Details
"Your submission must be composed only from photographs taken after the challenge is announced and before the deadline," "must be taken and post-processed by you," and "you may use images that do not meet the source or date requirements as textures in your entry if they function specifically as textures and not to circumvent other rules." The image of the Reaper was originally taken by someone else outside the challenge dates, and copying it off the monitor comes across as an attempt to get around the rules even if that was not your intention. We have no doubt that you didn't think this through, but nevertheless it's a clear DQ in our opinion...

I think it's that the bats are darker than everything else and draw attention right away, away from the subject. Could be lightened and be perfect, I think.

OBVIOUSLY, it's a fabulous creation and I congratulate you on your BLUE RIBBON!

A wonderful shot, but it is kind of serene and peaceful to me, I must be a bit weird. I love the misty look and the tones.

I think the bats are over the tipping point. The fog, the tree and the figure of death are enough, the bats add a level of Halloween camp, and they do not seem to integrate into the fog the way the figure does.

lovely shot as it is with just death and the tree and mist...don't think you really needed the bats, but they do creep people out :-)
