I love long shadowed street scenes, and I really wanted to capture something good for this challenge. So, I spent a few mornings/evenings stalking pedestrians and good light while the sun was low.
I took quite a few shots, and I was quite happy with this one. I really liked the strong shadow, backlit subject and the buildings in the background. If this woman would have been kind enough to stroll back and forth past this nice light a few times, I suspect I might have been able to improve on the framing and composition, but for the few quick shots I was able to get off in the moment I thought this one turned out well.
I thought this would have enough broad appeal that it would break 6, but the voters have spoken and I was wrong. Still, I've gotten some nice comments from photographers I respect so I can't be unhappy with the outcome. |

I like that the shadow is dynamic and leads me to the lady in the gown. I also like the backdrop which in addition to the gown and high heels lady lends this to have a cosmopolitan feel.
