A couple mentioned the POV...this was taken at the very top of Clingman's Dome, the tallest mountain in the GSMNP. It's cold up there and usually very windy. On this particular day the clouds had settled in. Normally you can see for miles from this vantage point. It was kind of spooky, but really cool. All you could hear was the wind moving through the pines...it's always worth the hike.

All the damage you see was caused by a tiny little bug that has been a problem in the GSMNP for quite a while now.
