 I have always wanted to see the native British Red Squirrels, but they are now rare, wth the population decimated by a virus introduced by the American Grey Squirrel around a 100 years ago. There are now small pockets of reds left; a friend told me of a place in Cumbria where I might get to see some - and I was lucky! Now I know where to look I will be making some return trips :)

Not the best photo in the world - 1000ISO, and a little grainy and lacking in fine detail - and a heavy crop, too. They are tiny animals, much, much smaller than their grey cousins, and also much quicker and more agile. Even with a makeshift hide, I needed a longer lens than my 100-400, but perhaps with a couple more trips I may get something better. That said, it is a 5 hour round trip with no guarantee of seeing anything.

Very cute I like the shallow depth and the sharpness nicely composed i,m giving this a bump came back too review.
