I was waiting for Don, standing in a parking lot with the dogs, when this bizarre creature flew by - it was so big and unwieldy, I thought it might be a really awkward bird. I took 3 shots before it disappeared. Unfortunately, only one had any background besides sky and that looks like this: .
This is the first time I've seen a praying mantis in flight, in person or on dpc.

Incredible. I've never seen one - and they look too big and unwieldy to actually fly. What a catch.

I know that they fly but I don't think I've ever seen a photo of it before. Clever you to capture, beautifully, such an event.
