For me this is extraordinarily powerful. I question the use of so much empty sky, because it gives too much emphasis to the texture, and anyway the image crops beautifully to a higher aspect ratio, which the new 1200px allowance makes possible. Anyway, it's very strong and I gave it a 10 on first pass. I have been debating dropping it a point because the composition is bugging me, but what the heck :-)

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Magnificent dynamic range.
2. Well matched toning.
3. The beauty of the clustered birds.
4. The texture overlay.
5. The sense of single-momentness - A real sense of an ephemeral moment preserved.

Lovely image.

I like the low contrast treatment here, although I don't understand the title, the image works for me, good luck

I don't know much about photography and vote on big challenges such as this one to learn more. I love the post processing and the scene you caught here.
I wish you luck 10

I love the what you have done to this image, and it is a lovely composition. I'm still learning, but I'm guessing you had a really fast shutter speed (or using a tripod), as the birds and the sea is so crisp. I think I would have given this a 10 instead of a 9 if the birds were not quite as sharp. I think it might have suited the vintage look more. Or maybe I'm completely wrong :)

Took me a while to figure out if you meant "hawks" until I came upon this "thing" that I truly don't like (Harry Potter - and please do not chasten me for the lack of appreciation of HP)
The fact is that I love your photograph. All this flapping, the almost audible cries, the sound of the breaking of waves and all this processed with much restraint is mesmerizing
I forgot to mark it. Done
