 On my birthday in 2013 while on a trip to Yosemite. Saw a shot similar to this in the Yosemite calendar.

The conditions were harsh. This is 5 bracketed images in 1 stop increments to get details in the shadows and the bright light.

The larger file size limits really helps make the image stand out IMO. I hope it does well in what is sure to be an impressive bunch of entries!

Excellent punchy colors, and very well composed. I like the little bit of wispy clouds here - a clear day wouldn't have been as interesting.
