Soldiers at the WWII reenactment that I photograph every Veteran's day weekend. I always get some of my best shots of the year at this event. This time it is some reenactors portraying a German unit. And I snuck a vintage bicycle in as a bonus.

Post-challenge notes:
How the heck did I beat Gyaban to the blue!?

Wow. Proof that just because the rules allow for expert editing, you don't HAVE to in order to score well.

Absolutely LOVE the sepia tone processing - it really gives the photograph the look and feel of a moment in time captured ages ago. The warm tones also project the feel and mood of a time worn memory of the better days spend with this 'band of brothers'. Fantastic that you were able to include the vintage bicycle into the scene:-) Congrats Steve on your Blue Ribbon in this challenge - well deserved.

Grate shot! Well done and congrats on winning an expert challenge with an advanced edit. Heck, this could be a basic edit for all we know. A very authentic image.

Fantastic image, it was my highest rated photo in the challenge. Nice job on the win, especially with using (I presume) advanced editing in an expert challenge.

My choice for the Yellow. As a history buff, this appeals to me as a fine vintage photograph.

My top pick. These soldiers would have loved this LOL Really, the processing is perfect for the period look and the bicycle adds an intriguing touch that for me keeps this group portrait from being too static. Love the context added by the setting, too. Voted way earlier. 10

I very much admire this photograph. Very nice presentation, which meets the challenge well. My uncle (Herb Plambeck) was a WW2 war correspondent in Germany. Many of his journalistism photos look just like this. Really nice job! 10
