p/c: I found this lady on the steps of a Jain temple in Udaipur, in Rajasthan, on the second day of our trip to India from which we just got back an hour ago to find this nice surprise. India is such a photographer's paradise, so many incredible faces, incredible colors, incredible shapes ...I am now looking forward to the December Free Study :))

Wish I could use one of my India shots for December, I got back on 30.11 so they are not eligible. India has been good to me this year for FS entries :) There's always best of.

Anita, indeed I usually prefer purity of BW portraits, but in this case, I found it hard to deprive the viewer from this feast of colors. Generally, one of the most striking things about India is the contrast between very often dirty and dusty streets and women in their incredibly bright saris, scarves and jewelry... Basically, they ALL are dressed like this, even beggars, or women working in the fields or shoveling dirt.

True actually seeing this in full glory looks more amazing than when I viewed it in voting. I guess we should just congratulate you now for the ribbon you'll receive in the DEC FS :)

NOW that is a face!

I find the colours very distracting though...for a more powerful affect, I would of converted the image into black and white. 8

Excellent details and sort of gloomy but bright at the same time colors. A good environmental portrait, great eye contact and well composed.

I am wondering what is she reading? What was more disturbing? What she read or the fact that she felt someone close?
Shattering!
