Peter Lik style Image Description:

This shot has eluded me my entire life, I was glad to have finally been able to capture it. Because of the unreachable nature of this site, I rode in with my Nikon out, swinging from a rope at the bottom of a helicopter. I let go of the rope and began to spiral down toward the beach, while getting my camera ready on a tripod. I used two shoot through umbrellas to soften my landing. Just before I hit the ground I had readied my tripod, and pre-focused my lens. As soon as I landed, I rolled to the left under the Pier, I shot. And this was the result. Stay thirsty my friends. - Nick

All joking around aside, I'm a big Peter Lik fan. I visit his gallery in La Jolla, CA regularly and have also seen the one in Vegas. I love the printing medium, the way the pieces handle light, and the professional nature of his whole enterprise.

Single 13 second exposure, first real shoot with my new Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 FX PRO lens, and I love this lens. Shot this on a tripod, with a remote trigger. Also used my Nikon SB-700 to fire a touch of light out underneath the pier to balance with the long exposure of the sky, etc.

Great to see an image not processed to within an inch of its life. Very clean and natural and most appealing.

Great take on Endless Summer - I like seeing the sand and the colors also work well. In my top 5. Good luck!

A very good job. Excellent colors. A few halos on vertical edges, but exceptionally good emulation of Peter Lik's style. 8

Much wow for this shot. I like the calm sea, the very blue horizon, the clouds, simply amazing shot. My top 3. A 9 from me
