Challenge: Break the Rules (Advanced Editing VII*)

i'm glad this ribboned because i was hoping to make a statement with it.

You may NOT use ANY editing tool to move, remove or duplicate any element of your photograph that would change a typical viewer's description of the photograph (aside from color or crop), even if the tool is otherwise legal, and regardless of whether you intended the change when the photograph was taken.

i wanted to make an edit that is illegal that i feel should be allowed.
i burned down the lighter areas so that they appeared black and was able to generate a low key image. i also closed out the wires and the light spill on the background.

in hindsight i wish i had used two light to get a bit more of a highlight of the two sides but it worked well enough with one.

subtle editing on the left eye/cheek would have still been legal. i think.

interesting take on the rules.

since when are we allowed to remove image area in advanced editing? maybe the shadow would be considered legal since it was shadow, but i've seen dq's for burning down an area so it was obscured even if it was edge of the image.

i figured removing visible features would be a no-no.

From the rules:

You May:
- clone out incidental power lines, twigs, dust specks, stray hairs, and similar minor imperfections within any capture used.

I am pretty sure that covers the wire that was in the original.

Congrats Mike. Great to see you owning the front page

Congrats on the Red. I'm thinking the cloning out of the wire would've been the main point for a DQ. Without dodging/burning, playing around with the contrast levels and some selective color would create a very similar low key effect and make the wire even less visible, if then cloned out wouldn't have been a major element anymore?

Gorgeous.. the light is perfect! Maybe the b/g is a little TOO perfect? Or maybe the eyelashes were touched up. Gosh, what detail. Voted earlier.

Lovely

Nice and sharp, and well lit. Not sure on the broken rule, maybe a major object cloned out?

So much from so little.

Most excellent negative space and minimal detail

She was originally a clone and you uncloned her. So by not cloning something, you didn't break a rule and this entry does not meet the challenge topic.

Beautiful low key. If you broke a rule, I can't tell what it is.
