I'm hoping that, while this photo doesn't represent "education" in any *direct* way, that it at least does represent what many of us can remember about our own early education. Going *to* learn. Also, it's a little commentary on just what education means. Nobody knows, when they start, where they're going to end up.. We're heading into a fog, as it were.. and this both captures that metaphorically, *and* literally.

Editing was simple. USM, slight noise reduction, Sepia toned with Hue/Saturation colorizing, resizing and cropping.

Excellent picture. The use of lines is very effective in leadin the person in to the picture, and the fog in keeping them there. It is also quite pleasing to the eye that the stairway isn't straight, but very crooked. Exposure is great, especially the excellent use of whites on just the main subject. Well done!

Excellent pic! Another rendition that would pack a punch, too, would have been to leave the girl in color.

congrats on your first ribbon!!!
an excellent shot i might add,
I think it perfectly discribes "education", especially from a parents point of view.
It really captures the seperation and loss of your child into an unknown future.
Great job!
The only small thing I find distracting, is the box on the right side of the path (but for basic editing!)
Congrats again!

OK You got me. This is the first shot in (IMHO) a very dull set of challenge shots that made me stop and say 'wow'. Great depth, great tonality. Love the mist and leading lines (path into the distance) and the simplicity of the shot. Without hitting us in the head with the challenge theme, you hit the challenge theme right on the head!

One of my favourites. A 9 instead of a 10 because there is a magenta color cast instead of it being B & W (?Intended?)

The long and winding road (or sidewalk in this case). I enjoyed this picture, 'the unknown ahead'! I think it an excellent fit into this challenge and concept of the schooldays. Into the hazy future from youth and on.... skillfully executed.
