This was done with my busted 50mm 1.8 lens...which I need to take a picture of for tnun because he asked a while ago, but I never got around to it. The entire front element popped out when I dropped the lens, then rolled across the entire length of the kitchen floor. I was momentarily sickened, then I thought..."oh cool, something to experiment with!"

Now the lens is limitlessly fun...like a fun house in a lens...super funfun. You can flip the now unattached front element around, or, in this case not use it at all and go find a magnifying glass and let things get seriously interesting.

And again...my good sport dad. He has Parkinson's, but not the shaky sort most people think of when they think Parkinson's disease. It's hard to explain...it's not quite like Alzheimer's, but there is this diminishing, this fading that's happening ever so slowly, and there isn't much you can do to stop it.

just saw this. it is a beautiful photo. the eyes. (btw, I have a 50 mm 1.8 that I don't like as much as my 1.4. someday tell me how to discombobulate it).

Well there is in a way, and you're already doing it: photographs preserve and cherish, and are the only way we mortals can save time in a bottle. Photographs fix his footprints through your life, and yours through his. I wish I had taken more such photographs.

This is very moving - in more ways than one, Rachel - and I was touched by your photographer notes as well as the capture. Paul is so right. And be sure to include yourself in as many photos as possible - pass the camera off, set it up and use a remote, use mirrors, whatever it takes.

Oh, and congratulations on the top 10.

Congrats on the great finish - for me this is still the winner!

Stunning. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say RKT's father through a lensbaby.

Great title for an even better picture. Don't worry, we all feel this way sometimes.

Very nice effect. I would have cropped off a quarter of the right hand side and a bit of the bottom as those areas are competing too much for my attention. However, when I force myself to ignore those pesky areas what I see I like.

This is my choice to win.I love the image and the feelings it evokes - it is spectacular! And after all that, I read the title and suddenly there was more to see and feel. I wish you the best of luck!
