Congratulations on high honor for this thought-provoking (sounds bland, but it's not meant to be taken that way at all) image.

I only marked two images as "favs" in this challenge. This was one and the other turned out to be Deb's Pelican. I just find that so funny. I can't escape the two of you...and I'm grateful! Nice work, Johanna!

a 10 from me magnificent scene and beautiful tonality and contrast great composition and low angle and the people walking by are the icing on the cake, the connection of the roots of the tress and the feet of humans is nice and subtle and connects the picture together.

the light on the leaf in the sweet spot of the Fibonacci spiral also an inspired touch a beacon of clarity in the dark foreboding foreground.

Beautiful... very Ubiquesque! One of my top 3.

A framing like this that truncates an image's story seems to be rather appealing to Ubique, tantalizing and allusive. While truncated (unavoidable pun), here I find the fabulous spread of roots enough to hold my interest mainly within the frame. I find the allusion from feet to roots, and back again, replete with meaning and symbolism. I won't spin it out, but I'm moved by it. Beautiful tones.

Roots of the past should not trip up the walk to the future

Oh the stories they could tell from watching people pass year after year. Wisdom comes with age; I wish they could speak to me.

Really nice - rich tones, nice composition. These old trees see a lot, and never say a word. We have them around here - I love them.

Just the most gorgeous tones! The beautiful photography of the writhing roots and scattered leaves is as good as I have ever seen of such a difficult subject. And lucky for me you have sneaked in a bit of whimsy with the oddball crop of the en passant legs! So I loved this picture on both levels, and I thank you.

Great tones. Great contrast, in light and shadow as well as in a rooted resident vs. passersby bee-bopping along. Very nice stuff.

Gritty tree roots...could be an Ent from the Hobbit. I like the energy added by the sneaker feet. This one speaks to me...10

this is a great tribute to Ubique. The framing, pov, processing and the cut of bodies really work.

living roots, and a reflection or two friends? lots of interesting things here.

Deep tones and details with a splash of human interest invading the earthy roots. Like two separate photos, the top and bottom sit in juxtaposition.

Effective.
