Seriously?? I wait until the last day and it's raining that morning? I've discovered:

1. it's not fun laying down in wet grass

and

2. It's not fun laying down in wet grass!

I was hoping for some little leaf hopper thingies -- and I was hoping it would be on the end of a blade of grass. I discovered:

1. The bugs aren't happy coming out on wet grass

and

2. It's not fun laying down in wet grass!

I had my macro lens with one of the extension tubes, and I was looking through it when I discovered this little spider mite. I couldn't really even see him without the macro lens and tube! I wouldn't have known he was there without the camera. That's a regular sized dandelion there, so it should give you a good idea of just how small he was.

The picture doesn't seem all that balanced to me, but I didn't like any other crop. I liked the dandelion with the very shallow depth of field, I liked how the little stamens pop out because of it. All also liked seeing more of the grasses on the right hand side, even though it made it feel a bit uneven with all the yellow on the left and nothing to balance it.

Even though it doesn't feel right -- I like it quite a bit. It just seems like a glimpse of another world.

Congrats on the TT Wendy; I thought it would place higher. I love poking around in the grass and finding things you would not otherwise see.

I want that lens, gorgeous shot, with wonderful shallow DOF, this is lush, bumping up.

What I like:
- the colors are vibrant
- great job finding that tiny tic!
- the lines
- the boka is very lovely
- competing but complementing sujects of flower and bug

What I don't like:
- depth of field is a bit too shallow for this subject matter- can't see enough of the flower

Overall: lack of focus distracts from having a strong subject
