"To the fishermen"

Ha, didn't think this would ribbon with a lower than normal score but thanks anyway. wbanning comment hit the nail on the head - it's hard not to get emotional about a sterile bronze statue, I tried to make it personal, that's why I photographed this fishermen, he "spoke" to me by the way he kept staring at me whilst I was photographing him. I love Fremantle it's an historical port wth a lot of significance, and being of Italian heritage gives more significance to this place bc of how much they brought to the community.

Unusually effective integration of the statue with the environment. Very well done and one of my top picks.

congrats Neat! among my top picks
i love the tone and the vignette. The framing had me thinking this was a person from the thumbnails. Very nice.

**congrats on your recent run of success!! Awesome! And although it's wonderful to be ANYWHERE close to you on these past couple challenges, I have a sense you'll stand alone in third on this challenge. I'm seeing I got a little carried away on my 'cleaning up' my entry. Not sure it will hold on, and if not..rightly so.

For me, it's hard to capture and hold my attention with sculpture alone. Yet, here the quality of the work itself, the context provided by the background, and the choices in image toning make this work well. The main subject's positioning against the simplest part of the background adds to the composition's balance and focus. Nice work!

Great shot. I struggled to believe the sculpture man wasn't real. Great choice for composition.
