Oh! I really, REALLY want to re-upolster our antique dining room chairs.

But, even if... "our nest egg" allows, I can't "bring myself to do it" (These are phrases that should be in the current "Literalisms II" challenge... with me hauling myself somewhere with some eggs. *rolleyes*) because... the concave seat ... perfectly fits our sweet Jack's curled up sleeping form. See that dark curve underneath? That's how low it sinks down.

Jack LOVES this chair.

He goes to it when he really, REALLY wants a good nap. No other place will do.

So... none of my chairs get done... since this one can't be done.

It doesn't even sit in the dining room with the rest of the set.
(Jack and his BFF are "fenced off" from the dining room... so this one perfect chair sits in our family space. As it should. Yes... WITH that webbing hanging down all "willy nilly". If you could see it from the top you'd realize that the bottom is just "water under the bridge"... *heavy sigh* Jack is family more than some others I can think of... There are some "black sheep" in our family. *grin* )

This is one of those images that... I don't care how well it does... I love it so much myself.

Oh... WHO am I "trying to kid" [birth a GOAT?!]?

I always care how well my image does. I'm way too competitive.

But... I have a "good heart".

*grin* If "the shoe fits", right??!

How could I NOT enter a Literalisms challenge!?

I am SO literal. I listen to phrases all of the time and think... only to myself, of course... "WHAT does that actually MEAN??!" So much of English makes no sense when one applies "common sense" to words' meanings... but Literalisms drive me crazy.

"Reach out to someone" about something. Really... stretch out your arm to someone.

See if that changes anything. Well... it will exercise your arm. But, nothing else. Ok... it probably will also make you look stupid if anyone else is watching you. But, the folks who say this will argue "until the cows come home" that it means... pick up the telephone, dial a person's telephone number, and speak to him. Wow. How can extending your arm toward someone in China... when you're in the USA... communicate ANYTHING to that person? Well... unless he is uhh... watching a video of you doing it?? And that would convey to him... uhhh...

What exactly? That you stretched out your arm in his direction?

He's supposed to gain knowledge from this stretching out?

Do you see my frustration here??! It's "nuts"! It's "dumb as a box of rocks"!

I could go on and on about stupid stuff some of us say (me included, of course), but... I won't bore you more than I already have.

Ok... just a BIT more. *grin*

No...

I'm stepping "down off of my soap box" now. :D

You may now go "on about your merry way". I won't "bite the hand that feeds me" here anymore today.

I'm going to "hit the sack".

Now, you see?! You CAN "teach an old dog new tricks"! I don't have "my head in the sand"... I know the "way the wind blows" around here!

I'm on the "up and up"... not trying to hide that I'm "playing with fire" about my obsession... "pissing everyone off" for whom I spout my "political correctness" of English words.

I would never do that... at least not "until pigs fly".

Now that you've "bitten the bullet" and read all of this boring stuff, you're a "step ahead" of the others who have not a clue about what to enter in the Literalisms challenge.

You're a "shoe in"!!

"It's a dog's life", indeed.

P.S. This is my very first ever white vignette. I've stepped "over the edge" now. Have I "gone overboard"??

Congrats Lydia; love it! This was one of my top picks, and yes, I like the white vignette.

Congrats on the blue, Lydia. Beautiful shot. I LOVE the raggedy chair. (Love the dog too of course.) My dog has a disreputable old armchair which she loves. And sleeps in when its decent on the back deck. But she doesn't sleep there or anywhere else when there's a sleeping pets challenge going on...or anytime I'm near her with a camera. Well done with this beautiful image. It was stand alone top in my lineup. Sorry I didn't comment during voting, but I gave you 10.

Hate the vignette. Gonna try it on my next entry to see if I do better. ;)

One of the top images here, I think. Your border treatment certainly adds to the sleepy/dreamy effect.

Very Lydia-ish, if that's a thing. Gotta love the underside of that chair. You'd almost think you had a cat, not a dog!

Lydia I'm guessing! Your pooch images are always nicely done. There's a few things I want to mention ~ I really LOVE the PP on this one, the sepia toning the lovely soft vignetting. I love the dog and how his head is in just the right position on the chair, with his big floppy hair and delicate nose...BUT and yes there's a BUT, I do however feel the raggedy chair is a HUGE distraction to what could of been a PERFECT image! My eye is drawn to the lower part almost immediately.....maybe the chair holds some sentimental value to you, and I'm guessing you may of thought it was a great inclusion, but for me this time, not so, and I say that in the nicest possible way &-)

Still having said that I will still give you an 8, would of been 10, possibly if you cropped the lower half out or better still have your dog on another chair. I reckon this will still ribbon :0)
