 This is a houseplant from South Africa.

Well, actually, it's from Ikea, but it originated in South Africa.

This was my alternate choice for the puzzle macro challenge, but my DPL colleagues talked me into my other choice for that, but I like this shot so I didn't want to waste it.

The details on this cactus does indeed look alien. The composition where the 'tendrils' travel to the top right makes it look like it is extending out it's tentacles to snare some unsuspecting prey.
