Thanks for all the great comments...by the way, the shoes were a wreck just didnt come out that way with the contrast.

Congratulations on your top 10. I wish it ended higher. FANTASTIC, but this one you know already.

PS And I don't give a damn about his shoes. Who cares? The overall effect is stunning.

The chain in the upper left corner is too distracting. Love the grittiness of the photo.

Terrific shot, deserves an 8 for sure, might come back later and bump up...

Conveys the message well. I like the mono and the starkness it has eal impact. Well done.

Incredible piece of work. Has to be a ribbon.

I rate this for its gritty feel. Judging by the clothes and trainers, this is a setup shot, rather than a snatched shot. However, this doesn't detract from the overall harshness. I am glad you introduced noise cos Poverty is not a sharp, clean and refined subject, it's about the street and the grim. 10

i like the grain and the limiting, it's refreshing to see a stand against the NeatImage'ers - well done

In poverty are we not all up against a wall? I like this picture and all that it has to say. Good job.

The shoes are not in character here - just gives the game away a little.

This.. this lookes posed, to me anyway. I looke like a shot for an album cover of some sort. Yes it's a person laying in an alley way, but it looks like nice new shoes and jeans. With a jacket tossed over his head. Seems like a clean subject trying to look down and out.
I like the image, I just don't think it captures the word poverty as well for me as some of the more gritty shots out there.

I think more about the style and treatment of this image rather than the message. There seems to be an intrinsic fault about it an allmst surreal feel which has taken over.

The noise/over-exposre/saturation detract, IMO.

a little to contrasty for my taste but its still a nice shot

This is definitely one of my top picks among all the entries. 9 and not a 10 for not moving the camera's angle of view downwards just slightly.
