Thank you sooooo much to everybody who appreciated my photo. I knew when I entered this photograph that it was a beautiful image. I thought my previous entry was also beautiful so, I can't predict the mindset of the voters. I really didn't have great expectations for the results. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in my peers.

The look I was going for was a Renaisance painting. I had a gorgeous model who gave me this wonderful pose. I got the gown on Ebay and it photographed so beautifully! The backdrop was gray but because of the low-light, the effect was warm tones from my single strobe.

I was afraid that I would get comments like - it's too dark, or too yellow or can't see the bottom of the dress but all of this was intentional. The way the dress fades into the darkness was a result of just the one light. I tried adding a second light but it ruined the effect.

Thanks you again!

Put another "freakin excellent" in your cookie jar. Outstanding work! I hope not to replicate this quality too soon myself as I'm still rather enjoying the *journey* toward perfection.

Good tonality, great light ... and the kind of portrait photography i loath, I'm afraid. For me, overly posed, unnatural, aspiring to some kind of Beaton-esque nostalgia. The execution is impeccable of course, but I just don't like this kind of thing.

Awesome, I would like to turn this into an oil painting for you if you cannot do it and would like to see it done :) 10 I also wouldn't mind seeing it in partial desat

Great classic portrait with fantastic lighting which is warm and brings out the structure of the satin dress. Good light distribution on the background as well. I would only crop a small part of the bottom, but that is nitpicking.

I like this one a lot (7): great colors, tones, beautiful model, nice focus. But, the right arm is shadowed and the left side of the image is too dark.

Perfect lighting! Not the most powerful pose, but with a model and dress like this, you get away with it. The color scheme is what makes this photo great, the skin tone, hair, dress, and background all seem perfectly matched - 9

Lovely colour harmonies and very pretty lines on the left side. The hand spread on the model's knee looks a bit too stiff and posed, though. Perhaps you might have suggested a more relaxed position for her hand.

It's a really good portrait, but I am a bit uncertain about the balance between the dark left and the brighter right background. Perhaps a tighter crop might balance it out more.
I love the way the dress fades away into the shadows.

Excellent portrait study. Nice soft details of the dress and her skin. I like how her hair flows downward past her shoulders and barely touches her. Lighting is also very good and emphasizes the tone of her skin well. 10
