I had no intention of shooting THIS for this challenge. Hence the fact that the iPhone was used (again) instead of a "real" camera. I took the family down to the river just for some exploring. My girls were doing something they rarely do around the house: getting along. When you strip away all the friends and technology and toys and familiar surroundings, they find each other.

So I was building rock sculptures; the girls were swimming in the questionable water, and my wife and son were wondering when we would leave! HAHa.

The girls suddenly agreed to have a "mud bath" ... My ears perked up and I realized this would inevitably be a great opportunity to meet this challenge. And they did not hold back. All I needed to do was get them in a position I liked - this straight-on, faceless pose was exactly it.

I have high hopes for this. BUt I don't want them too high because I'm sure not all will like it as I do.

As for editing, I selected the background, making a separate layer of the legs/foreground.Then blurred the background layer and applied a gradient mask for a gradual effect. Played with layers quite a bit to try to add some dramatic contrasts. Selectively sharpened the grime and cracks in the ground. Added a warming filter and a fill of orange to apply filtered to make it look more old and filmic.

As I looked at this image closer during voting, I realized the super-dark area on the right pair of legs. WHile I love the image, it was rightly marked down for that. In my mind anyway ... Eitehr way, still one of my favorite shots =)

Pegged this a top10 contender. Glad the shot did well. The PP was very convincing and added to the mood of the shot. Overall so nicely done. I guess this reinforces the mad bath behavior? ;)

Great processing that emphasizes the texture in the legs and ground. Top pick.
