Photographer’s Notes
Just returned from vacation … we had a few days in Berlin for the wedding of an exchange student who lived with us 22 years ago … then a few days hiking in the Lakes District of England … and finally a few days of urban hiking in London.

The bride was a Countess and our host son was a commoner. This complicated matters substantially (both required to change their names and she to give up some of her royal context) and made for an elaborated wedding. There was the pre-wedding meet-up at a Bier Garten on Thursday evening. Then there was the wedding on Friday afternoon. Then there was the reception in a park across from the wedding venue. Then there was the wedding feast in a historic 1920’s ballroom – black tie. And finally, there was the official ‘hangover brunch’ on Saturday morning. Fun! Exhausting!

This photo had nothing to do with the wedding. It was taken in the Tate in London and was shot for the challenge. I was looking for a subject that might be interesting reversed. It is of a piece of sculpture by Nicholas Pope, born in 1949 and still living. It’s titled Liar Liar and was completed in 2009. I like the Tate Modern better as a museum, and we had the time to do that and the original Tate. Both are great museums and worth a visit.

*Hello from Sid and the Critique club*

Congratulations on your ribbon for your excellent entry that meets the challenge fully

Thanks for the interesting notes, I hope you have fully recovered from what must have been an exhausting trip! What an excellent choice of subject very well executed from all aspects, it makes a fascinating high key subject. Your viewpoint has enabled you to recreate a very effective artificial symmetry that with your most appropriate title makes for a completely new subject matter in its own right. The leader at the front has a distinctive identity that separates him from his followers all of whom together with their shadows make a most appealing and fascinating image, I like it a lot.

I'm very pleased for you that it has been so well received here and deservedly so, well done, Sid

I don't know what to make of this strange subject. But I like it that the top half is symmetrical with itself, but not with the bottom.
