The alien, cleverly disguised as an old barn, waited patiently. Just a few more hypnotic steps before he could reel in his helpless breakfast.

Maybe my favorite of your subconscious creations.

CRITIQUE CLUB REVIEW

So, the task that has befallen me is to critique, of all people, the legendary Pothumous.

Considering your style, and well known skill, lets dispense with most of the technicals. You certainly do not need help with exposure and other basics.

What I see in this image: I like the trio trudging into the frame. However if there were less tilt to the frame, perhaps their effort would be more pronounced. I like the play of light and shadow. But the buildings are a little bit bright for me as they have lost detail, or if there had been a bit of softer focus, then the bright buildings could have worked a little better for my taste. I like the leading line of the hose. It draws my eye back in, when it tries to wander. I might consider cropping the partial building off the left. I don't fe l like it is really part of the story. As is, there is plenty of food for the imagination here. Very nice work.

Just saw this. Wow! Love the white barn, dark shadow, serpentine hose and most of all the characters from " invasion of the body snatchers". Glad John was on the ball and gave it a blue.

Don, congratulation on the bling. You got a 7 from me. The bold shapes and delicate winding hose held my interest. Mixed reactions on the slight lean left. Doesn't hurt but does it help? I appreciate your choices which run counter to DPC convention.

I don't know what I like more about this photograph. The youngsters walking like penitents, the shadow, the composition, the slight blur that is more like a steam, the waving line of a hose that is superfluous…I probably love mostly that it's something I could never do. Especially the processing. After a period of doing all kinds of layers and more elaborate processing a photograph like yours is a true moment of "respiro"

The 3 boys marched through the bright sun back towards the greenhouse. "I'd rather be back at school", moaned Mark.
