Challenge: October Free Study (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Location: Clearwater Beach, Clearwater, FL
Date: Oct 24, 2004
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/800
Galleries: Nature, Animals
Date Uploaded: Oct 31, 2004

Since a good many of you are probably in Fall weather now, I thought a picture of something normally seen at the beach in Summer would change things up a bit.

While on my back, holding a cracker up, these 2 were hovering 2-3 feet beyond the camera. I shot about 100 images, but I liked the wing positions of these 2 gulls the best.

Shot with the 20D and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens.
Very little post editing done (crop, levels, USM).

Oh, I remember this shot well. Surprised I didn't comment on it during the Challenge. It's a terrific capture. Hmmm, lying on your back? Hope you kept your mouth closed!

Very nice indeed. You had the perfect position, perfect timing and what seems a near perfect gear as well. Composition is super. Great job, this one will end up high in this very high-standard challenge.

Great catch!! A really cool shot; if I had managed to take a shot like this, it would already be framed and hanging on the wall. Great focus, hope you let us know the particulars, (lens, settings, etc.).

Awesome capture of birds in flight! Perfect sharpness with a slight blurring of the tips of the wings to show motion. Great cropping too. Good luck in the challenge!
