Challenge: Portrait Without Eyes (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-7D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Ottawa
Date: Dec 7, 2015
Aperture: 6.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/50
Date Uploaded: Dec 8, 2015

I was doing an on location photo shoot with this lovely young lady when I came across this picture hanging in the bathroom. I thought it would make a great shot, and would work well for the Framed! challenge. I was very happy with the result.

I didn't enter it there because I thought it would do poorly due to the frame on the picture being so small, thus not 'prominent'.

I was hesitant about submitting it for this challenge as well, as I figured there would be a lot of "this isn't a portrait" comments and votes. I guess I got lucky that there were a lot less than I expected. It was a quick search of previous portrait challenges resulting in finding this image that convinced me to go ahead and submit it.

But yes you were correct in that it could be any medium obviously...if you are correct then I'm certain the panel will boot it, no? In this case the photographer decided to display the likeness in obvious ways, and they did not incorporate the eyes...

you're both missing the big picture, and that is, she's got a great ass!

yeah, i,m off to the Portrait Gallery in a mo to see more :)

That's what I was hinting at in my previous post. I think the individuals who were stuck on the "rules" of art and not enough on breaking the rules for this challenge. After all, isn't that what DPC encourages?

The photographer definitely displayed her "likeness". It's a beautiful image and very well composed. The extra framing in the background completes it. Well done!

I really should start entering in some challenges. I just recently started visiting DPC again. We'll see what happens!

"A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant"

not in my world

Actually it is a portrait. To be technical, based on the rules for this challenge (cannot show eyes), one must incorporate the head and shoulders of a human.
