 Today, I participated in the Christmas Bird Count in the Estes Park Area. 12/19/2015. My group was able to log 22 species of birds. The most notable observation was a pair of Common Redpolls. This is the male. In winter, this species feeds primarily on birch catkins. This is the first one I've ever seen and is listed as "rare" in our area. Canon EOS 5DmkIII, Canon EF400mm f/5.6L USM, 1/1250s @ f/7.1, ISO 800, lens focal length 400mm. 12/19/2015 2:32PM.
