I did not vote in this challenge but would have given your image a 3. This is based on several things. First, all photographs I vote on start at a 5 if they meet the theme and go up/down from there based on several things. For your photo I would have deducted 1 because I personally detest shots like this, in the studio will a solid white background and nothing but the subject.......to me they are just boring unless extremely well done and this is not. You would have lost another point because you did not get one shade of white for the background, it kind of goes from gray to white which I find more distracting then if it was one even color all the way thru.

Beautiful shot, Gipper. And yes, the range of photographers and their preferences on this site is vast.
ones, twos and threes just go with the territory. Some voters just use the bottom half of the scale;
others use the top half. As SC says, the vote scrubber takes away the votes that try to game the system.

Had I voted it would have been a 3 or 4 ,its ok but has no real merit in my view. To sum your image up in a word boring would be it.

I replied to your post but thought I'd give you a specific comment about the image and the votes I see. It's technically very good, but it's also what I would refer to as "familiar". When I look at your vote distribution you have five 9's and a pair of 10's to go with the 1 and 3's. You'll notice that this place tends to grade on a fairly evenly distributed curve until you hit the very top and the very bottom, so what you see here isn't unusual. I was back and forth between a 5 & 6 on this one and went with the 5 because of the familiarity of it (it's one of the things I expected to see in "Circles", as were the pencils and oil/water shots). Take heart in the 9's and 10's, they don't come easy in this place.

Hello from the Critique club

An appealing image that meets the challenge

I love the simplicity of your entry, the shapes are very appealing and I like your non-symmetrical approach using five glasses not all different colours and arranged the way you have. The pastel shades are very effective and enhanced by your sympathetic lighting which very effectively lights them perfectly without heavy shadows. The circles of the top of the glasses are very effective and I also like the repetition of the circles implied by the bases. To be honest I can't really fault it, I think you have done an excellent job and it has been recognised here with a respectable score too.

Well done, thanks for your excellent entry.
