I saw a hand... painted like an elephant a while ago and thought I'd try it myself for the Earth Day challenge.

So... I painted my left hand like an elephant.

"Honey, what did you do today?"

Uhhh... :D

Anyway, I did a zebra on my hand a while ago and that was great fun.

I did mention to myself over and over and... well... over and over again while setting up with a zebra painted on my hand, that if I ever painted my hand again, I should gather everything (background, camera, etc) and set it all up before I started painting my hand.

Stuff is amazingly hard to do one-handed.

*sigh*

I remembered that... even remembered it before I started painting my left hand. This is good.

BUT, I figured I wouldn't be able to paint it well enough for Minimal editing so... I was just gonna see what I could do.

I got into it... and never looked back. Ha! This is bad.

And then... it hit me.

My camera is on the tripod already... that's good.

My camera is on the tripod already, but has my longest lens on it... and... the lens has the tripod bracket on it... instead of my camera as it should. That's bad.

I'm one handed.

I have a bunch of different colored papers in a file in a drawer to use for backgrounds. That's good.

I have a bunch of different colored papers in a file in a drawer to use for backgrounds. They're in a drawer. That's bad.

I'll use only window light. No need to set up the lights. That's good.

I couldn't get the window light to work consistently (it's raining). That's bad.

I couldn't see through the viewfinder and stretch my arm out far enough, so had to guess where to put my hand every time, click with the remote, and then go look. That's bad.

I need to learn how to tether and shoot live on my monitor. That would be good.

I'll probably never do it, since I've said that many times before. That's bad.

Finally, I got three images that I thought would work. That's good.

I asked three of my family members which one of the three images they liked best. They all three chose a different image. That's bad.

It's minimal editing ruleset, so I didn't have to spend any time editing. That's good.

It's Minimal Editing, I can't fix any of my painting flaws. (I'd definitely fix that tusk and make my wrist not so visible so the scene could be larger. *sigh) That's bad.

I have old hands. That's bad.

I'm glad today that I have elephantly-wrinkled hands. That's good.

I have no idea which one I'll enter.
SOMEBODY SAVE ME!!

I was one of your 8's. Love it then, still love it now. What a clever take on the challenge, and fab execution!

Now this is unique, but I like it, the composition is well done and it is simplistic.
