Because why not, right? Who in their right mind submits a B&W hummingbird photo? Given a choice between this and IR I'm hoping folks recognize something a little different instead of treating it like just another bird shot. Fingers crossed.

(After Voting)

I was so glad to see that folks responded well to this. Honestly, if it was that good in color you would have gotten it, but the background was a lot of reds and greens and with the little green bird the details got lost. On a whim I decided to try a B&W conversion and I loved how it just made the feather details pop.

And as for never photographing birds in B&W, tell that to Alfred Hitchcock. ;)

I voted this among my highest. I'm certain, that it wouldn't have captured my attention in color. This processing choice makes it stand out. Kudos!

Don't go losing any sleep over it. And please, no more trips to Patagonia. ;)

Nice to see one of those in B&W for a change! Tried it few years ago with the Northern Lights, without success ;) Really like the pop up contrast and soft background. Congrats!

Congrats on the red, Jake. This is gorgeous, and I like it better than the many, many coloured hummingbird shots I've seen.
