The mountains grow unnoticed
by Emily Dickinson

The mountains grow unnoticed,
Their purple figures rise
Without attempt, exhaustion,
Assistance or applause.

In their eternal faces
The sun with broad delight
Looks long — and last — and golden,
For fellowship at night.

Thank you all for your valuable comments and for the poetic contribution, I'm happy to see that me picture has inspired some of you. This ribbon is a great inspiration for me, I'll work hard to try to keep the good score in future challenges :)

Little info on the mountain, when I took this photo I had just climbed that mountain, it's not for those scared of heights, but the view from the top is totally magnificent.

I'd have cloned out the telephone pole and stuff on the left... and maybe even the campers?? in the middle.

But, then... I might not have scored as well as you.

Congratulations on your gorgeous image and your fabulous finish! Well done!

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image assumed to meet the challenge.

Congratulations Benedikt on a well deserved yellow ribbon for this magnificent entry. Yes, symmetry does work but it has to be done well is indeed you have done here, those beautifully mirrored reflections are simply stunning. The colours are all natural and very pleasing. I say assumed to meet the challenge because I am not familiar with the poem but thank you for your helpful comments. The only minor criticism I have is that there appears a slight halo around the mountain that suggest just a tad too much sharpening, its certainly not excessive but it is evident on close inspection. Anyway, that is not to take away from your excellent entry and result well done Benedikt.

there is still
the self.

unnoticed and even denied
the waters recede
the mountains thrust
anxious or indifferent
the fish pass by

We offend them, like yellowjackets at a funeral.
They shrug unnoticed. We color them at the base
and lose will towards the top. They ignore us unnoticed.
They sigh and explain things to each other unnoticed.
They won't die within our noticing. They refuse unnoticed.

Haven't seen this landscape before - it's quite picturesque. My guess is Iceland! ;-) You've got an 8 from me.

Though towering high above the horizon....

Its life so lonely in its majesty....

Its beauty and islolation a curse unto itself.

There is a hidden place
That your parents forgot
Where the world grew
Upside
Down
The hills swam deep in the skies
And the mountains grew unnoticed
