A Riboon Snake (Thamnophis Sauritus) peaks around some vegetation at me in Brazos Bend State Park, Texas, USA.

[Sep. 7th, 2016 02:35:07 PM]

Most of my wildlife photos have a good story behind them but this one doesn't really. I saw this snake on a log in the swamp and while trying to photograph him he took off and started moving down the edge of the swamp. I got about 30 feet ahead of him and laid along the edge and waited, not moving at all. Was hard to get a good angle because of all the vegetation but was able to snap this one shot. Just after taking it he noticed me (I moved a little because of the uncomfortable shooting position) and turned around. Really wanted a tongue out shot.

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that contributes well to the open challenge.

Another excellent wildlife image Ronnie, well done. Superbly sharp where it matters and a great composition with all the soft focus vegetation framing him in a way that enhances the end result. Two things I really like about it are the way he is slithering in from the corner with his lovely soft focus body and the leaves parasol. It is all so believable natural as opposed to a zoo or studio shot. I know what you mean about a tongue shot but this is still an excellent shot that works really well. Thank you for your patient efforts that serve to reward us all, we are indebted to you.

Technically a good shot but the right half needs to be cropped out to strengthen the impact. 6
