 I often wonder... after... having saved money for a very long time for a vacation/cruise, and after watching the people who serve me on my vacation... what do they think of me?

Do they think that this vacation is my life? My real life?

Or do they "get it"?

They're working to get a break too, right? Are they just a "shadow" of what they'd rather be?

Am I?


We're all just working to eventually have a break, right? Them and us. Me and you. You and them.


I think about this quite often.

I have many new friends who used to "serve me" on my vacations... as my friends now on Facebook.

I like to get to know the REAL people behind the masks. Everyone has at least one mask they wear.

Most people have several.

I even wear them when I'm vacationing.

Is that weird?

Are they really getting to know the real me? Or only "Vacation Lydia"?

This is me... shooting down with my cellphone ... onto people on their/our cruise ship... looking down onto the workers pull our ropes (they will hook that yellow rope around a solid thingy on the dock and that will hold us tight) to get us to where we want to go to have more fun than we were already having on a 24/7 fun cruise ship.

*rolleyes*

Am I really me... always? Or am I someone else... a mask... always?


Are the workers who are pulling our ropes pitying us because they know the real meaning of life... and go home to enjoy it every night with their real family and/or real friends after pulling in another ship?

Are they the only ones in the photo who understand the real meaning of life?

Or are they working to get medication for their seven-month-old daughter who is fighting for her life?

Or... is THAT what's real in life?

I ponder this.


People amaze me.
