Thanks so much for the comments and the votes! This was a lucky shot - I walk this path just about every day but not always with my camera. And, the deer are usually always in the forest and field to the right of the fence, rarely on the path. Seems like the planets lined up on this day because I did have my camera along when this guy popped out of the forest on the left side - he was panicked and began running down the path toward the bridge. I was trying to stay as still as possible because I was afraid he was going to hurt himself trying to get away. He did end up jumping back where he came from though, so all worked out well. Thanks again, glad people liked the shot.

Thank ypu for explaining me Mary Ann. I agree - for the challenge theme the crop is just right. If it were a chellenge which focused on "deer", then a crop would make more sense

This is really a perfect moment frozen in your picture. I guess in your situation I would have messed up and the shot would have been the wrong exposure and all blurry or somewhat like that...
Did you consider cropping on the top and the right to get rid of the wire mesh fence?

Hi Barbara, thanks for the comment. Actually, it's a good thing this was shot in RAW because the deer was somewhat underexposed (the path was wet and the light was reflecting off of it so it was bright compared to the deer) so I had to do some adjusting to bring out the detail on the deer. As far as cropping the fence, this is a crop but I chose to leave the fence in because of the title, I wanted to reinforce the idea of him seeming to being stopped.
