I did not want to miss the opportunity to "Shoot the Moon" since this event was so historic. I have PhotoPills on my iPhone which I used to find the best place to shoot from so the moon would rise over the city of Denver. The ap was incredibly helpful and I was able to set up in a perfect location that was not difficult to make happen. I even went out in the afternoon to verify the location so I could find it easily in the dark. It turned out there were 5 other photographers that showed up in the same vicinity for this event. Pretty cool. So everything went well except for a thick layer of clouds on the horizon that kept us from actually seeing the moon until it rose above them. I admit, this version is dramatic, but I wanted a clear shot of the moon rising directly over downtown Denver. I'll keep using that ap to help me find new and exciting locations for this sort of photography.

Appreciate the votes and comments, let's keep DPC going!

Sorry to see the Blue Ribbon winner DQ'd. That is never fun.

Gorgeous image Dennis. I think the cloud cover adds some contrast to the image which is more interesting. Congrats on the ribbon.

Congratulations on the Red Ribbon. Really great composition over Denver cityscape with moon rise above. Magnificent cityscape in its own right. Moon still effective from behind the clouds.
