This coyote was part of a 3 coyote pack in Horseshoe Park, RMNP. They were patiently hunting the new fallen snow in search of naive rodents. We have the healthiest and largest coyotes I have ever seen. Tourists often think they have spotted a wolf, but we don't have wolves in the park (yet). Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF400mm f/4 DO IS II USM +1.4xIII. 1/1000s@f/5.6, ISO 100, lens focal length 560mm. 11/18/16 10:40am.

I've seen one great big HUGE mutha of a coyote out here, twice, about 10 yrs apart and if I didn't know better I'd swear it was a wolf. Easily the size of a king shepherd, silent and fast. Great pic!

I have to agree with Johanna, we have scrawny coyotes here as well. This guy looks well fed! Congrats on the HM Richard.

The city kid that I am looks at the expression of the wolf and imagines that a conversation coud sparkle anytime. No sense of fear here. This is as close to exchage glances with a winter hunter that I get and since the image is so calm and the few vegetations are nicely colored everything seems possible
