[Dec. 18th, 2016 10:35:02 PM]

The only time I've picked up my camera for about a month and a half or so. The Christmas parade. My son's boy scout troop always builds an incredible float. So I brought the camera to take pictures.

This kid was part of a group that came a bit before the scouts. He was so intent on what he was doing. It just called for photos.

I understand how people end up drifting away from DPC... As you miss more and more challenges, it gets easier and easier to make excuses. And as the time goes by, you don't even know what challenges are even running. You look every now and then. But the impetus has been lost. Tonight was the first night where I really wanted to get back into it. I desperately wanted to shoot for the challenge due in a couple of hours. I had a great idea that would have been wonderful to do and something I hadn't done before. But I needed people, and had none. So back to no entries.

I'm not sure the point to my musings. I guess it's just late and I'm tired. Perhaps the thing the site needs the most is a way to reach out to those who are drifting away. Not just a DPL every year and a half or so. But automated emails reaching out when you haven't been around for awhile. telling of upcoming challenges, teasers on forum topics, notices of upcoming sales and specials (oh wait, I'm starting to think about amazon and Christmas presents I need to buy... ) But it's true about out of sight, out of mind. We need a way to keep DPC on the mind.

It's been easy to ignore DPC because I've been going crazy.

(oh wait, I forgot to finish that sentence??)

going crazy making it a homemade Christmas. Family presents are being homemade this year. It's down to the wire, and there are way too many things to finish. So maybe there will be more photography time after the 1st of the year. I expect that I'll be going crazy from lack of things to do at that point.

If anyone knows an easy way to upload from my phone into my workshop, I'll post some of the projects I'm working on. After all, this might be one of the few places that a crocheted Dalek dish towel might be actually appreciated. :)

Thanks for the comments -- and I hope you have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I love this shot. It was good to an entry from you. Hopefully, post-Christmas sanity will return along with a desire to enter challenges again. I'd love to see some of the projects you've been working on. A homemade Christmas sounds like a great idea.

A very well seen & captured modern rendition of the Dorothea Lange style. Congrats on your HM.

This was one of my highest rates - even when it's more about Christmas than Dorothea Lange imo.
I love that you entered it.
Merry Christmas from me too

8 from me. I wish the title didn't limit us about the story... I imagine so much more without it.

A lovely, emotive shot
